News AirPods Pro & Beats Studio Buds move to new firmware versions Andrew Orr 0 e-mail BlueSky Mastodon X Facebook Reddit Tue Jun 16 2026, 03:11 PM EDT · 1 minute read AirPods Pro Apple has released new firmware updates for AirPods and Beats earbuds, continuing its steady rollout of bug fixes and performance improvements across its audio lineup. AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3 are receiving firmware version 8B41, while Beats Studio Buds are being updated to version 1B211. The release updates AirPods Pro models from version 8B40 and Beats Studio Buds from version 1B204. Apple hasn't disclosed what's included in the update. The company typically limits AirPods firmware release notes to broad descriptions of bug fixes and performance improvements. Installing the update remains a largely automatic process. Users need to place their AirPods in the charging case, connect the case to power, and keep the earbuds within Bluetooth range of a paired iPhone , iPad , or Mac connected to Wi-Fi. Apple says the case should remain closed for at least 30 minutes while the firmware installs. Apple's latest release arrives as the company continues to expand AirPods features through software updates. At WWDC 2026, Apple previewed new AirPods capabilities that will arrive alongside its next generation of operating systems, like a new custom EQ feature. How to check your AirPods firmware version Open the Settings app on a paired iPhone or iPad and select your AirPods near the top of the screen. Scroll down to the About section to view the installed firmware version. If version 8B41 appears on AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Pro 3, the update has been installed successfully.
