Kidde Ring Smart Smoke + CO Alarm Review: Smart Alerts, But Limited Integration

Smoke and CO alarms offer an early warning when a fire breaks out or when carbon monoxide levels have reached a dangerous threshold, but if you’re not home when an alarm is triggered, it may be too late to take action. With the Kidde Ring Smart Smoke + CO Alarm (RGCUAR-RW), you’ll receive real-time push alerts on your phone no matter where you are, and you can sign up for an optional fire dispatch service for added protection. This alarm features built-in Wi-Fi and issues voice alerts, accompanied by a loud siren, and utilizes the Ring app for notifications. However, it doesn’t interact with Ring cameras or Alexa smart home devices . At $74.97, it’s a good value for a smoke/CO detector that will interconnect with other alarms to provide whole-house protection, but it does require hardwiring. If you prefer the easy installation of a battery-powered alarm, the $45.99 X-Sense Wi-Fi Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (SC07-WX) is a more affordable alternative. Design and Features: A Classic Look With Support for Multiple Alarms The Kidde Ring measures 1.8 by 5 by 5 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.3 pounds. It’s a hardwired device that contains black (hot) and white (neutral) wires, as well as a red wire used to interconnect multiple alarms. Up to 24 compatible Kidde devices can be connected to a single network. When one alarm is triggered, all interconnected alarms will sound, and you’ll receive push alerts for all of your connected alarms.
